Job Summary: the candidate is expected to offer input in the implementation and development of several resources objectives. He/she is also anticipated to be a representative of the organization in the activities concerning the multi-agency fuel management (USAJOBS 2015).
Work activity: The duties include supporting fire use, smoke management, air quality, biological assessments for particular species, and fuel treatment planning. The candidate is expected to recommend strategies and offer input for fire and fuel management and participate in the review, development and modification of relevant plans. This duty requires assessment of environmental documents, recommend fire plans, and apply other agencies and stakeholders’ plans, which affect the unit (USAJOBS 2015).
Performance expectation: the candidate will be involved administering and implementing prearranged fire activities, fuels management activities, and wildland fire use. This involves developing fire safety and protection plans in various aspects of project management (USAJOBS 2015).

Job specifications or qualification

The first job qualification is the Education level: Degree in Biological sciences, chemistry, natural resources management, agriculture, or related discipline relevant to the position. The other specification is the work experience relevant to the Fire Management Specialist position. The experience must demonstrate the understanding of the impact of fire on the culture and the natural disaster. The other experience is in the prescribed fuels/fire management to be experienced in the activities such as a professional range or forest inventory procedures and methods (USAJOBS 2015). The candidate should also have experience in the fire management operations in order to apply and analyze management strategies.

Validity of the outlined specification and elements

Based on the identified qualifications and elements, the company has conducted sufficient analysis of Fire Management Specialists, which can help them to gather qualified applicants. This is because, the outlined elements and qualification are organized to describe not only the expected career goal, but also state how the applicant qualifies for the job. This is important because jobs are prone to change due to organizational development, personal growth, and/or advancement of technology.
