Green products

Green products are those that cause a negligible negative impact on the environment and are considered environmental friendly. Frequently, green products have broad-minded environmental and human right policies that support life. The best example of a green product is the green cars.
The green cars are designed in a unique way since they are energy efficient and cause minimal pollution and greenhouse gases. This is enhanced by the existing environmental protection agencies that are in charge of vehicle emissions. The agencies  rank cars depending on two factors: air pollution standard and emission of greenhouse gases. For instance, in the United States, the greenest car, SmartWay Elite, is the topmost ranked by the protection agency. The most popular example of green cars includes 2015 Jeep Renegade, Audi, Toyota New Mirai car, BMW3 series ActiveHybrd amongst others. The green cars release minimal greenhouse gases because their fuel combustion is upgraded. Also, they avoid noise pollution since their noise suppression ability is very advanced. The production of green cars has ensured a commitment to the set principles and policies in the environment.

Non-green products

Pesticides and Insecticides are an excellent example of the non-green products. The product releases toxic chemicals that interfere with life in the environment. For instance, pesticides have harmful components that damage streams, ponds or even water. The product is designed with an aim of eliminating the unwanted insects but causes massive damage to beneficial insects and other animals. The product is also responsible for causing health problems for people in the environment. Insecticides that are designed to destroy a particular species may allow another species to multiply, and this causes an environmental imbalance. On the other hand, non-selective insecticides must be discouraged as they also cause destructive effects to the environment.

Vegetable Oil Dielectric Insulating Fluid for High-Voltage Transformers: Designing Greener Chemicals Award

Since time immemorial, the most commonly used transformer fluids were the Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Later, they were replaced by mineral oil that was not environmental friendly because of the high flammability and toxicity. Interestingly, Cargill comes up with the Envirotemp™ FR3™ dielectric fluid, a Vegetable Oil Dielectric Insulating Fluid for High-Voltage Transformers. The fluid is associated with numerous environmental, economic and social benefits. In general, the dielectric Fuel is less combustible, guarantees a superior performance, its less poisonous and ensures a considerably lower carbon footprint. Its high degree of minimal flammability reduces the chances of causing a fire or an explosion in the environment. Moreover, the Vegetable Oil Dielectric Insulating Fluid is economical because its ability to intensify the service life of the cellulose insulation more than 5 times longer compared to the mineral oil and this guarantees a long lasting insulation and transformer life. Moreover, the use of the insulating fluid requires smaller designed transformer because of their high thermal performance.
The fluid is believed to attain a lower carbon footprint during the all-inclusive lifecycle. It uses reduced raw material in the manufacturing process. The FR3™ fluid was recognized in the award-winning contest since its carbon footprint is 55-times lower compared to other fluids. The adoption of the fluid to be used in the transformers was achieved because The FR3™ fluid is less poisonous, it’s renewable and it is highly biodegradable. The numerous environmental, economic and social benefits of the fluid make it the most effective to be used for transformers.
