“Illusion of Order” is one of the famous books in which author Bernard Harcourt argues about the impact of the broken-windows theory on the policing in the United States. The author divided the book into three critiques, namely empirical, theoretical and rhetorical in order to evaluate the evidence of social disorder and serious issues of crime. Harcourt explains a causal sequence of the broken-windows hypothesis and the factors that led to the contribution of crime drop in the country.
