According to shariati, the modern calamities that are leading to decline of humanity can be placed in two headings; social systems and intellectual systems. Both systems regard man as an economic animal that worships consumption rather than the God who created him. “There is no longer leisure to growth in human values, moral greatness and spiritual aptitudes, but working to consume” (Shariati, 1980).
