Free Essay About A Proper Introduction
Every single tip in this paper is useful and interesting. In the “Not to Do” part I realized I have never used any of the wrong introductory methods except for “Announce your Intentions”. I always sensed that it feels weird but I never knew it is considered wrong in writing. I think maybe it emerges from the writers’s lack of self-confidence when they feel they have to express their intention to see how it sounds on paper. The best thing to do is for them to just say it to themselves and when it comes to writing just cut to the chase. The five introductory methods presented in the second part are so helpful and I am more than ready to use one of them in my next article. I have read tons of articles similar to the ones in the examples but I had never paid attention to how the method of starting them has kept me interested in reading them to the end. In my opinion, the third introductory strategy - the “Surprising Statement” is the strongest of all. As a reader, whenever I encounter a shocking statement in the newspaper or a magazine, I am persuaded to keep reading the text. When I read about the “Declarative” method, I realized most of the educational texts in my field use this method and that is why they sometimes seem boring and hard to follow.
Of course, it is not enough only to “know” these tips or have them in mind; using them in writing also needs one’s certain level of knowledge and creativity. However as the paper says itself, it is a good way to give the papers of beginners “a push” to hopefully become better in the future.
