The history of Biomedicine can be traced back to the antique times when people depended on wild herbs and fruits for purposes of medication. This was later replaced after civilization took over. As a result of civilization, there was an improvement on technology, guiding researchers to discover a number of medicines that addressed various diseases. Although this was the case, the period between 1800 and 1980 is argued to be the most productive in terms of the discovery of biomedicine. For instance, in the year 1946, Louis S. Goodman and Alfred G. Gilman discovered chemotherapy. How does this discovery of this medical process impact on the livelihood of the human beings? There is no doubt that the impact of this discovery has been felt throughout the world.
There are several reasons as to why most people prefer chemotherapy. The first reason entails the fact that chemotherapy can be administerd with a curative intention. Second, it may be administered with the aim of reducing pain. Third, chemotherapies can be used to prolong the lives of people. Together with hormonal therapy and targeted therapy, chemotherapy qualifies to be referred to as a major medical oncology. Since its discovery, chemotherapy has been used consistently to treat cancer. This is because of the palliative abilities it contains. As a Biomedical process, chemotherapy involves a lot, meaning it must be done by an expert.
This project is essential in ensuring people understand the origin of such an important process. Doctors and other health care experts have put in various important mechanisms to ensure that the quality of life is boosted. By studying this historical achievement, people will appreciate the medical process they undergo.
