This article is about how terrorist attacks get different media attention depending on whether the perpetrator is a Muslim or not. Berton (2015) argues that Muslim perpetrators are labeled terrorists while non-Muslim perpetrators are either mentally unstable o freedom fighter. The article also focuses on the reaction of Muslims towards Muslim terrorism and the public’s reaction to terrorism condemnation by Muslims. Its uses the theory of planned behavior as the media’s reaction towards Muslim terrorism is premeditated (Berton, 2015). The article benefits our analysis in that it helps us examine the media’s role in shaping people's opinion on certain groups of people. It has critical sociological implications especially the authority of the media on the societies’ perception of Muslims.

This article is concerned about how social media is fueling the rising of prodemocracy movements and ideologies especially in the Middle East. Terrorists are more adept at using social media in maximizing the use of homegrown terrorists, regional operatives and available technology for terror campaigns against the West. According to Joseph (2012), the al Qaeda’s media released an English version of bomb-making manual through social media as a training material. Through the general deterrent theory, individuals take advantage of the social media to engage in criminal and anti-social activities. The importance of this article to the research analysis is the influence of social media in radicalization of people and how much the society is unaware of this (Joseph, 2012). The article also reiterates the importance of the security system monitoring social media.
