Thinking and Feeling

Businesses greatly benefit from training and orienting new employees. Such is because of the fact that trainings and orientations greatly enhance the skills and knowledge of employees in line with the mission-vision of businesses. It is noteworthy that the core specifications of businesses are found within their mission-vision, from which they derive their sense of purpose. With that, it is crucial for businesses to induct new employees as their bona fide members by no less than letting them attend trainings and orientations designed to enhance their organizational skills and knowledge. In that case, businesses must think about the most effective measures for trainings and orientations, not only in terms of the raw facts as specified by the mission-vision and all the functions laid out in their by-laws and organizational charts, but also in terms of their past experiences pertaining to the usual difficulties new employees face in starting their work.

Doing and Watching

As employment is largely a costly undertaking, businesses must make it a point to employ the best practices on training and orienting new employees. All new employees are hired presumably for their potential to carry out the mission-vision of businesses that hired them. However, it is also important to note that new employees start working for businesses with a clean slate - that is, they have yet to match their skills and knowledge to the organizational goals and objectives binding them. Thus, businesses must try their best to experiment on the best ways to train and orient new employees, particularly in ways that would greatly motivate them and impart unto them the sense of purpose businesses have indicated in their mission-vision. At the same time, businesses must derive their experimentations from success and failure stories so that they would know what to follow and what to avoid. In that way, businesses would be able to emphasize on the importance of success in aligning their new employees to their mission-vision via trainings and orientations.

Feel and Do, Feel and Watch

Experiences mold businesses into what they currently are, which is why it is important for them to take on what they have experienced in terms of experimenting on the best ways for training and orienting new employees. One key basis that businesses must consider is their attrition rates, which provides them with information on the frequency of employee resignation alongside the attendant reasons. If businesses, based on past experiences, feel that their current regimen for training and orienting employees does not help in curbing out attrition rates – which signify the lack of assimilation to the mission-vision of businesses indicated by the desire to move on, then they must make it a point to introduce revisions. At the same time, observational methods in learning more about training and orientation regimens may help businesses in terms of adapting them into their own contexts, provided by no less than their mission-vision.

Think and Do, Think and Watch

Training and orienting new employees must start with ideas on how alignment to mission-vision of businesses may benefit them and vice-versa. In other words, the benefits of trainings and orientations must be mutual to both businesses and new employees. With that, it is crucial for businesses to construct training and orientation regimens that would provide greater meaning to new employees in terms of motivation, skills and knowledge. Another noteworthy thing of note is the need for businesses to see for themselves how proven training and orientation regimens work for others, so that they could see what they could apply and what they could not.
