Why is the issue you're discussing so important?

This is an issue that affects everyone in the world. There is not a race on earth that someone is not prejudice about. It also is a very timely item, since in the last few years it has been in the news. Racism has led to some of the greatest atrocities every committed by one human to another. It is an issue that should be important to any culture which values freedom and liberty for all of it’s citizens.

What are some of the lasting repercussions? What might happen if this issue is not resolved?

Slavery was one outcome of racism in previous decades. If the issue is not resolved it means another generation of minority races who wil; not be able to play on an even playing field in life, since they will have to constantly live under the shadow of unfair stereotypes that people assume because of their race.

It is in the media and more relevant than ever.
How did it get to this point?
It has always been a problem, but only in the last few years has the media and citizens paid extra close attention because of high profile, some say racially motivated killings, of unarmed black males by police.

The issue has been present since the founding of the country and also has been present in cultures and countries all across the globe.
What are the major arguments (sides) of the issue? While few would say racism is good, some people believe that it is not as big an issue as it actually is.
