Adult learning is challenging issue since there are many challenges that face the learners. The needs are diverse and very specific to the learners such that it is very difficult to satisfy them. As contemporaries, they strive to reveal their potentials and creative abilities, and often engage in practical work that happened to the bulk of the adult online learning program. Buchen (2014) notes that the future of online adult learner creates potential experimental strategies that focus on the interests and needs of the learners.
Buchen opines that the problems faced by the adult online learners include individual communication, balancing working and studying, as well as other specific needs. Therefore, making of the adult online curriculum is difficult. The adult learners are willing to be imparters of knowledge rather than being learners only, and more than often are fond of teamwork. Posting and chats are usually unsatisfactory for this group of learners. To better online learning, it is good to enhance the cooperation among team players, introduce new methods of evaluation and co-teaching, build a multi-level grading system, and appoint co-teaching leaders.
The article expands my knowledge on the challenges faced by adult online learners. The fact that these needs are many is surprising. The leadership potential and team playing on an online platform can enhance leadership and other competencies as articulated in the article.
The idea raised in the article can be used in coming up with curriculums that favor the diverse needs of the learners. The learners can gain knowledge from the online instructions and at the same time share the knowledge. The online learning enhances leadership among the learners and offers a good platform for sharing ideas,
In conclusion, online learning offer a platform for life-time learning. Developing the right curriculum, such as experimental learning with critical focus on the learner’s needs, and interest can bring great changes. The learner remain motivated, work hard, and usually would succeed.
