The Immediacy of technology and Impact of Photographic Images on Politics and Social Policy
Background to the Context
Photographic images have been considered as a development in the art form. It is an evident fact that increased number of mechanical tools has been used over the time to get an image. Photographic images can easily be transferred into different mediums.
There is a possibility that the images by using photographic mechanics can be copied and reused for several years. With increased immediacy of the technology, images have become accessible for the masses.
It is due to this reason that the impact of the photographic images has been widely observed. There has been an ongoing research considering the impact of the photographic images on the politics as well as social policy.
In order to carry out the research, a number of secondary sources will be considered. The analysis will be done using qualitative research method. Herein, it should be noted that the respective images and pictures will be taken that will be relevant to the subject matter. It will allow the readers to understand the subject matter in an easy to understand manner. A discussion will also be carried out in the report to relate the images to the impact that the immediacy of technology has made to the images to directly affect politics and social policy.
In order to meet the objective of this report, three examples have been selected. The following examples are reflective of the photographic images that directly or indirectly impact politics and social policy.
The above images have been skimmed out after a research on the internet. The keywords that were used in order to find out the respective photos that serve the purpose of relevance with regards to the report’s objective include photojournalism; images impact politics, controversial images, social media most popular photos etc. The images were shortlisted on the basis of their occurrence and media.
There has been an ongoing debate when it comes to the understanding of immediacy of technology impacting the way photographic images influence politics and social policy. Some of the technologist reviewers claim that the images have changed the manner people used to think about political decisions as well as the public policy.
It is claimed that the images tell people about something which people want to be there but is not possible. In simpler words, people have become dramatic in their approach in understanding about the reality. People do not want o take the environment seriously. Therefore, many subjects are left unnoticed.
The aforementioned images are reflective of the impact of the images that have had on the politics and social policy. For instance, the first image presents a cover of a magazine that shows enraged Muslim men. The headline uses the word rage which will impact the social policy as well as the politics. The image is probable to show people the negative side of the Muslims. Such images are sent to different mediums. Social media networks further allow users to share the images which bring it into resonance. In this way, it is directly going to make people think of Muslims in a negative way. There is likelihood that people would ask the politicians to draw social policy that would limit them. Therefore, it is evident that such images and the immediacy of technology are more likely to put a direct impact on politics and social policy.
In the similar manner, one can notice that the second image is showing media personals capturing photographs of an event. Advancement of immediacy of the technology allows the photographers to share the images in no time. Often it is noted that such images are not even provided correct caption. To some people, it may be an effective side of the media that reporters tend to report every event in a very closer and in-depth manner. However, it does show a negative side as well. The pessimists are more likely to interpret the image to be a lured way of media to bring the same story. In simpler words, media is showing us unnecessary side of world. In this way, politics and social policy will not be covered by the media, leaving imperative events and issues on the disposal.
It is estimated that the report will be able to conclude both negative and positive impact of the immediacy of technology that has directly impacted the politics as well as social policy.
The aforementioned and discussed images will be able to allow the readers to understand the extent to which the political and social policies are influenced by the images that appear on the social networks as they are accessible because of the immediacy of technology.
