Section 1: The Problem
The problem whose existence drives this project study is music illiteracy. While its opposite, music literacy, is of intrinsic value, music illiteracy does not exist alone. Rather, it is a part of a complex and interactive set of academic skills addressed by educational institutions. Music illiteracy, therefore, has implications, consequences, and variability not only within the music world, but across the academic enterprise.
