Abstract
African American (AA) males have disproportionately high HIV incidence and prevalence. A review was conducted on the risk and protective factors, consequences, and interventions related to HIV among AA males. Particular focus was given on the role of attitudes in shaping HIV prevention through condom use. Attitudes were found to be influenced by individual attributes such as age, gender, type of community, socioeconomic status, self-efficacy, and knowledge.
