1. Lameck argues that it is incorrect to call the Africans in Tanzania poor because it has a number of riches in culture, people, and agriculture among other things. Lameck sees Africa as having many plentiful resources. She cites that Africa has millions of tons of coal, iron, and other ores. The problem is that they have not found a way to exploit these resources for profit. She also cites the growing economy, which has doubled, and that people living here do not have nothing. Lameck also appears to believe that a countries wealth is not just determined by resources. The culture and people are resources, and Lameck clearly believes that the African culture is a positive benefit, and something that should not be viewed negatively.
2. Lameck is worried that constant use of the word “poverty” will condition the young people in the society to lose hope and believe there is no point in trying to better their situation and work to strengthen Tanzania. The only problem is lack of experience and revenue, so continually telling the young people that they are poor could hinder the potential and the ever strengthening foundation.
3. The real problem affecting the Tanzanian people is that they have a lack of experience, revenue, and knowledge in building a country. This is not poverty because poverty is the state of being poor or having something in an insufficient amount. This does not accurately describe the situation in Tanzania because they have plentiful resources. The problem is they do not know how to take advantage of these things, and have a poor monetary foundation to fully develop their resources. The world is developing quickly which has made the situation in Tanzania look worse than it really is. The lack of knowledge to grow a civilization, and develop the economic and political systems is the real problem facing Tanzania.
