In the United States, there are a number of agencies and departments working with the issues of global warming, developing specific programs on fighting them and executing them. This essay is dedicated to outlining the authoritative bodies in this sphere and the particular steps executed by them in direction of making our world a safe and green place to live.
As the problem of climate change is rather broad one, related not only to the US, but to the entire world as well, there is no single body dealing with the issue, but rather several federal agencies executing specific programs (Mowery, Nelson and Martin 1012). The main person to set the tone of global warming initiatives and directions of development is the President, who is a chief executive of the government. It is necessary to mention that the problem of global warming receives considerable attention on the part of high-level authorities. Back in 2009, there was established Interagency Climate Change Adaptation Task Force, which is chaired by the White House Office of Science and Technology. This body coordinates the efforts of the federal agencies on preparing for the climate change consequences.
In addition, there are a number of other departments and agencies are also involved in the climate change issues, as it touches upon different spheres of life. Among them, there is the Department of Agriculture, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the US Army Corps of Engineers (Engel 1015). Among the most important ones, there is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which collects valuable data for climate change investigation. The National Air and Space Administration adds information from space to the research. The Department of Defense also makes its contribution into the climate change research and fighting.
