I bought an Apple iPad 4 (Serial #888A7592 ) from Circuit City (4400 W Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90027) for my personal use on December 18, 2014. The product was unopened when I bought it. I started the ipad worked normally on it for a month. On January 18, 2015 (a month later) I found there were several technical issues when I went to work on the Ipad. 1. the sleep/wake button did not work, 2. side switch that adjusts volume stopped working 3. the home button was not responsive after tapping it one time (usually I have to hit it three times before getting a signal). Thinking this was a software issue I synched it to my computer and iTunes. I reset the device a number of times and charged it to full capacity. The same issues were consistent. I looked at Apple Forums (www.ifixit.com) and found that this was not an isolated incidence and this issue seemed to be consistent with several other users of the Ipad 4. It is believed to be problem with the glue used in the Ipad. Your distributor Circuit City refused to help me with this claim and they referred me to the Apple Genius Bar. After going to the Apple Store in Los Angeles (189 The Grove Dr, Grove) and talked to one of the Genius Bar technicians, Matt Myra. He said ‘this was not a software issue but a hardware one,’ and told me to write a claim letter to Apple Customer Service.
As I am an Apple fanboy I did not want to believe that Apple’s products could have any issues. However, I understand that with all technology products there is always something that can go wrong. This product is still under Apple’s 1 year warranty (see enclosed) and manufacture warranty (under Magnuson-Moss warranty act). I request that you repair this at no cost to me. However, as compensation I would prefer to receive a new Apple Ipad 4 after I send the faulty one back as I believe these issues will persist in the faulty one.
Please contact me at the above email and inform me what I should do with my faulty Ipad. I have enclosed copies of the receipts and the warranty of the Ipad. Thank you in advance for the prompt attention to this matter and I will follow-up by calling you on March 15th if I have not heard back from you.
