Good Essay On A Better Life For African Americans

The laws of the United States grant equal rights to everyone. However, the mistreatment of African Americans continue to plague society. Recently, there have been incidents where unarmed African Americans were targeted and killed. Change is needed. Changes such as more national support, increase the positive image of the African American community via social networking sites, and a more detailed look officer’s performance.
The police tend to “shoot unarmed individuals first and ask questions later.” (Whitehead) A national support system would be used to put pressure on lawmakers to pass laws and give harsher penalties for the killers. Furthermore, social media could be used to spread positive information about the African American community. Finally, police officers should have their background checked monthly. Any office hiring a police with a history of discrimination against African Americans would have to answer to the public why that person is fit to enforce the law in African American communities.
Today, the rallying cry of ““no justice, no peace” and “black lives matter”” can be heard on many streets. (Richinick) Many are upset and angry over the killings of unarmed African Americans. People are looking for ways to stop the discrimination of police. By creating a national support system, using social media, and background checking officers, this rallying cry can change.
