Revenues earned from sale of tobacco was enough to boost slave importation.
Contrary to Chesapeake, New England was not an agricultural state. It was more industrialized and based its economy on art. Shipbuilding, printing and carpentry industries were the most relied investments. New England diversified its economy by growing food crops apart from industries. It did not invest in staple industries due to labor deficit and religious nature. Inhabitants of this state were mainly whites and English. They had settled in this state to seek religious freedom and not economic interest. Unlike Chesapeake which was a commercial state, built on foundation of economy by fortune finders. New England was not moved by economic interests but religious fulfilment.
