Trend 1

The hospitality industry has changed in great many ways in the past few years. Previously, people travelling abroad had to visit travel agents and book their hotels and in some case even tickets of popular shows abroad. However, all this can now be done with just the tip of the fingers through a smart phone. Some of the phone applications allow users to acquire information about hotel and resorts abroad and make advance bookings. People do not have to visit agents and pay them extra amount of fees for this purpose. Other than utilizing these applications, one of the other trends in the hospitality industry has been consumption of fresh food rather than junk foods. The vending machines for example have been replaced by snacks and soft drinks with fresh salad and fruits.
The mobile application for providing accommodation and ticketing information together with registration has proved to be one of the most innovative trends in the hospitality industry. It has been one of the innovations travelers have been looking for many years. These mobile applications allows busy business persons, students or anyone looking to go abroad for meeting or vocations to select the hotel of their choice and range.
Specifically, these mobile applications allow users to select a country and surf through the hotels they can afford and would like to spend their time in. Mobile applications give user a guide about the various packages that are available in the country and city they plan to stay. It gives them the rate and also the amount the savings they can make in staying at the hotel (“Ten Billion Dollar Ideas You’ve Never Heard Of” 31).
Users of these applications get the benefit of going through all the details at their own convenient time. They can make the right decision after scrutinizing every deal that is available on a hotel. They do not have to run to an agent every time to submit papers and sign any paper work if required. They also do not have to pay an additional fee to the agent for making all the arrangements. The trend has been highly successful as it gives various options to the users. However, this application is also very important for security reasons. Many countries across the world have expressed a desire to only permit tourists from identified regions (Rosenbush 3). The mobile application tracks the user and the region he or she is coming from. For example a hotel will be informed that a user from Kabul named Qadir Wassan is looking to book a room in the hotel.
The mobile application allows hotels to look into details of the traveler and the part of the world he is coming from. If the traveler is coming from a territory that has been black listed or if he resembles a name that has been marked dangerous then the authorities can be alerted. Presently, terrorism is one of the biggest social problems in the world and countries all around the world are looking to combat it. Mobile applications give them the opportunity to cleverly tackle the problem (Rosenbush 3).

Trend 2

One of the other recent trends has been to live in a fit and healthy diet whether at home or abroad. It has been recommended to replace some of the food items that individuals consume by healthier protein and non-starched vegetables. For this reason, authorities with the help of hotels have managed to replace unhealthy food items in vending machines with healthy diet. Salads, fruits, vegetables, yogurt, milk and other healthy food items are commonly found in vending machines outside hotels, cinemas or any other popular tourist spots (Brat 5). Most of the countries are encouraging healthy food. These countries are becoming more and more aware of the consequences people have to face as a result of obesity (McKay 7) Not only does obesity make people ill by giving strokes but it also makes them lazy to efficiently complete their diurnal tasks (McCartney 9).
Countries like France, Sweden and Switzerland heavily rely on tourism and these countries have taken the responsibility of guiding people towards a healthy diet. One of the reasons why these countries are including a healthy diet on their vending machines is because the authorities feel that they have a moral obligation to offer people what is good for them (Brat 5). They have a moral obligation to stop people from food items that are unhealthy for their life and end up making them unattractive and obese. The government of most European countries is calling people to adapt themselves to a better and fit diet. Previously social media has been used greatly to spread the message and to contain food in the vending machines is one of the few positives steps that most countries in Europe have taken (Brat 3).

Conclusion

The latest trends in the hospitality industry have greatly shaped it and it is very much likely that it will continue to do so in the future. Booking through smart phones makes it only easier for travelers to select the packages that they can afford. It also saves time for them. Also, including healthy food in the vending machines leaves a positive message that the authorities care for the people and want to prevent them from diseases and other disadvantages associated with it.
