Would you like an opportunity to work ABROAD?

We are looking for managers to help lead the changeover of the new hotels acquired in France, and then manage them after they re-open. These positions would require traveling to France several times for around two years, with the possibility of working full time in France. The main responsibilities of the job would be:

Over see the transition and setting up the new hotels to meet GoodSleep Hotels requirements

Hire a team of people for the day to day activities of the new French hotels
Oversee the training of the new people hired
Ensure that the operations of the new French hotels are up to standard with our company’s standards
Work towards attaining the company’s growth goals by checking the financial performance of the new hotels and the future prospects

The skills needed for these positions include:

Ability to lead a team of people effectively
Willingness and ability to learn basic French quickly
Strong communication skills
Deep knowledge of GoodSleep’s culture, standards, and growth goals
Keen in recruiting the right people for the right jobs
Strong people and project management skills
In order to apply for this job, one has to have been in a managerial position at GoodSleep Hotels for at least five years. Please keep in mind that some basic knowledge of French is needed in order to be an effective manager.

Selection Process
The main factor to keep in mind is that GoodSleep Hotels is looking to hire PCNs to begin with. Therefore, the first criteria would be that the managers hired would be managers already working at GoodSleep Hotels in the U.K. These managers would help maintain the ethnocentric approach used at GoodSleep Hotels. The other criterion to use is technical ability. For most international companies, it is very essential that the managers hired have high technical skills and ability (Dowling & Festing, 2013). Similarly, it is essential that the managers hired to help the transition of the new hotels in France be tried and true, tested through their performance at the company.
It is also essential that the managers hired have intercultural competence, and the ability to adjust to foreign culture (Dowling & Festing, 2013). The managers would need to have an appreciation for new culture, and a desire to learn about the culture. Being that France is slightly different from the U.K., having these skills will enable the managers to work effectively as well as enjoy their stay in France. Coupled with this criterion is the need to have interpersonal skills. A friendly person who displays patience and empathy would be ideal for a managerial position, where they would be in charge of training new personnel who speak a different language.
The final criterion is the willingness and ability to learn basic French. The managers would not need to be fluent in French, but they would need to enroll is a program that would teach them the basics of French. Understanding the basics would allow them to understand the people they would be working with, and also paves the way to learning more French while working there.
