Harry Potter was born in similar circumstances, while J.K. Rowling looked out the window of the train and imagine the lonely boy, racing at high speed in the new world for themselves. Rowling has created a mythology with the same degree of intensity as that of JRR Tolkien. Writer borrowed her characters from the same legends: about King Arthur, Greek mythology, medieval legends, and in particular, from Tolkien.

Involuntarily there is a comparison between Harry Potter and Frodo Baggins.

Harry and Frodo are very similar. Both are orphans. Frodo is the hobbit, Harry in the early history - the child. Both are unusual in some aspects, both are modest and selfless, both at the beginning of the path understand that they are waiting for a difficult test. Both tests are much more difficult than it seemed at the beginning. From the outset it was clear and obvious that Harry will defeat Voldemort. And any twists of plot could not break this concrete confidence. But for the other characters, who really seemed doubtful or contradictory. Watch the same Snape and Malfoy was much more interesting. It was immediately clear that once Harry Potter survived, he will defeat Voldemort, and the last one cannot get away. In this fight, I'm entirely on the side of Harry, but he was uninteresting hero to me.
But if I were asked what the hero of "The Lord of the Rings" is most interesting to me, I would without hesitation named Frodo. Some say he seems "too good" and he is really "good", especially in the beginning, he is absolutely unselfish. However, he has harmlesses and disadvantages: he is not very self-sufficient, not gone too far without Sam. Dare to go anywhere, yes, but in practice - he needs support. Then he is a bit snobbish, he has certain gentility. Frodo is different from most hobbits - and he knows it. However, he is not arrogant, lust for power he does not have. Still, Sam is not only a friend for him, but also is a servant. But Sam is quite happy for this role, hence, everything is harmonious. The analogues of Sam in Harry Potter are his friends - Hermione and Ron.
And at the beginning of "The Lord of the Rings" it is clear that the Good will win, that Frodo will cope with his task in some way, even if it seems impossible. But it is so interesting and exciting to look at his journey, his internal struggles. The other story lines just fade away. And I would like to formulate why so. Yes, it is clear that the ring affects Frodo very weakly. He was the only one who is able to bring it to Mordor. But still with the progress of the plot increases anxiety, and until the last moment, before the denouement there is no certainty of who will win.
