Every organization represents a complicated body, where everyone has to find an organized and effective way for communication and mutual understanding. Any company is a community with people who often come from different backgrounds, share different values, and have different personality types. It is a great challenge for a manager to operate with such diverse communities and get everything best from each employee in particular.
Despite the fact that manager has to observe a person while hiring process, it is also crucial for this person to adapt within the working team and to make contributions to the productivity, efficiency, and overall success of the company. One of the best ways to manage employees, despite their personality type, whether it is passive, or active, is encouraging teamwork. Teambuilding exercises give a deep insight for the employees on each other and on individual’s strengths and weaknesses. When passive workers cooperate with active ones, they can often adapt active positive practices. Active employees will spirit up passive employees, and they will create an effective tandem of individuals who can share their skills and knowledge, evaluate alternative solutions more precisely and come up with results that take into consideration contradictory points of view. Therefore, implementing corporate culture that highlights team building and encourages employees to get to know each other better and to operate in a strong trustful community is an effective tool for working with different personality types.
Another important practice that managers can implement in order to work effectively with various personality types is assigning different types of tasks for the employees. For example, a manager can ask a relatively passive worker to perform some active assignment that will require enthusiasm and constant positive attitude. By doing so, a manager can create an environment where a passive person will perform tasks with more activities and will engage into the process that will help this person to become more open and enthusiastic. In addition, a leader can provide some incentives that will boost the activity of certain passive employees, because right incentives often make people be more productive and effective.
While working with active employees, a manager should take into consideration their strengths and assign the tasks that require many different types of activities, where an active worker will switch from one activity to another, and will engage all of his or her passion and hardworking skills.
Commitment within an organization is an essential aspect for both the working atmosphere and success of the company. It is a direct responsibility of a leader to build strong commitment among employees. Hard work and commitment go together and bring high productivity levels and sense of community. Managers can create high commitment levels by empowering employees and letting them participate in the decision making process. Low hierarchy and friendly relationships lead to a positive environment. Active listening can become a very successful tool for managers to implement, because by doing so they will build trust and respect with subordinates. Furthermore, the company should provide various activities for the employees, like small sport competitions or picnics outside of the office. Various seminars and training sessions that discuss work productivity and company’s values can contribute to the higher commitment levels within an organization. In addition, encouraging constant open communication and increasing financial incentives are also useful practices to adopt for every company.
Overall, corporate culture that highlights teamwork values, mutual understanding, listening, high engagement, and decent incentives, will positively contribute to every organization, because it involves employees’ sense of community, their working relationships, and helps to recognize strong sides of individuals.
