Abstract
This paper discusses specific research studies and developments of the facial feedback hypothesis (FFH) of emotional experience. The influence of facial expressions on emotional experience is established, and sincerity and awareness of expressions are investigated. Physical influences of facial expressions are briefly discussed as well as the effects of long-term cultural suppression of emotions. The emotional congruence and perceptions of individuals are investigated in terms of recognizing and interpreting others facial expressions.
