In the recent years, drug diversion has been on the rise due to its usage for frivolous purposes. The doctors and the health professionals prescribe the use of the drugs. However, the health practitioners should follow the rules and regulations to avoid unethical behavior. Additionally, the unethical misconducts should have serious consequences, for instance, a halt in practicing in health provision services or heavy fines. Therefore, the regulatory bodies on drugs should fight the drug diversion vice.

Question 1

Therefore, as a CRNA co-worker it is necessary to report the matter to the Chief CRNA for any assistance. For this reason, the information given to the Chief CRNA would help in deciding the next step in helping the workmate. To protect the patients, the individuals and also to uphold the nurses’ reputation, the affected nurses should seek help from the relevant bodies. A problem becomes half solved when share, therefore, it is better to seek help from the chief CRNA. Nevertheless, such people are treated and at times allowed to reenter the health profession. However, the reentering in CRNA is conducted under close supervision of the member to avoid falling victims of the drug diversion.

Question 2

The CRNA chief should not terminate the CRNA but should offer assistance and guidance. Therefore, it is said that human is to error, and this should not lead to termination because there is room for rectification. Termination has many negative effects such as, falling into depression and stress. The failure to offer any help to the individual could result in the negative perception by the other CRNA members as inhuman to the individual thereby; creating conflicts at the work place. For this reason, it is essential to maintain a peaceful coexistence at the work place for better performance.

Question 3

Nevertheless, as a member of CRNA, a phone call to the LARA should be in good faith of trying to get assistance for the CRNA and also to protect the nurses’ reputation. Conversely, the LARA body also supervises the Health Professional Recovery Program. Therefore, reporting the case to LARA would ensure that the individual gets help from the recovery centers. Prevention is better than cure. Therefore, it is better to report the case because the member gets help rather than leaving the problem to persist, which could have negative impacts on the health, and later losing the job.

Question 4

Additionally, the policy to regularly test the clinicians and medical providers in high-risk areas is essential. The policy would act as deterrence and discouragement to the substance abuse leading to more sober health practitioners. Therefore, mandatory random drug testing on all health care professional who access the medications is essential. For this reason, the health care professionals would abstain from the drug use because they do not know when the drug would happen. As a result, they try to avoid the drug administering to avoid facing the consequences.

Question 5

The health policy should outline the serious consequences such individuals should face to control drug diversion among the nurses and doctors. However, the hospitals should organize forums that enable the nurses’ share the different experiences and educate each other. Some turn to the abuse due to stress but engaging in team building where all the nurses involve in the outside chores away from the normal duties and working place. Nevertheless, the policy should allow the health professionals back, but their leaders should regularly supervise them because monitoring discourages and instills fear against the abuse.
