Driving a motor vehicle is serious business and a matter of great responsibility. In every state of the country, there are rules for attaining a driver’s license and becoming eligible for driving on the road. It is said that driving is a privilege in Florida. The state has some strict rules about driving and people are issued licenses after much scrutiny and tests. (DMV, Florida, 2015).
According to statistics by state of the total number of drivers, Florida has an aggregate of 13,896,581 drivers. These include people of varying age groups; men and women, middle-aged elderly as well as teenagers. Statistics also show that by gender, the total number of registered and licensed female drivers in Florida is 7.15 million. The rest are obviously, males and others remain unregistered or either by a learner’s license. However, where there is driving there are a number of other incidences such as texting while driving, drunk and driving, speeding, and not obeying traffic rules. Teens who are normally texting while driving are a major problem. In a recent survey, teenagers texting while driving has overridden the drunk-driving cliché. A striking forty-five percent of US teens in high school and colleges reported to text while driving out of which forty-six percent were boys, and forty percent were girls. To top this, the fatalistic car accidents were even higher. The other cause of accidents is speeding that is done by all age groups periodically. According to statistics, total drivers involved in accidents were 366,917 out of which 2947 met fatalistic car accidents. (The Statistics Portal, 2015).
The benefits in the State of driving are related to abiding by the traffic safety rules. The most basic advantage is the ease of travel such as going from one place to another. Teens learn how to drive because then they do not have to be dependent on their parents to drop them off wherever they have to go. (Ozimek, 2014).
Secondly, driving has the benefit of providing speed in travel, where a person would rather arrive at a place ahead of the appointed time rather than arrive late by walk or on a bicycle.
Thirdly, driving is a lifelong skill that will come in handy any time a person would wish it to. Many people would not need a car, but a license comes to use when a person travels any place else and hires a car.
The effects of traffic rules and driving are an overall addition to other learning experiences in life. Learning to drive teaches responsibility and discipline and inculcates the habit of obeying the rules. The various fines and tickets given for breaking the rules; for instance speeding, texting while driving, breaking the signal or drunk-driving are all part of the law where abiding by it makes a person a better citizen. Driving also helps to generate revenue, when a person drives local transport in the state or becomes a taxi driver as well. It is moreover an activity that fosters independence, dutifulness and sense of freedom in an individual.
Concluding this, driving in Florida comes with many rules and regulations that need to be followed. The state harbors a large amount of male and female drivers belonging to all age groups. The strict traffic laws and driving rules prohibit a person from driving without a license. Driving comes with many benefits such as independence, freedom, a handy experience and wishful traveling to any destination a person wants to go to. With driving an automobile comes great responsibility and texting, drinking and speeding when driving are harmful and sometimes fatal.
