This is done through learning and proper training of the hospitality staffs. The HRM must be concerned about the staffs’ skills and knowledge and their engagement and commitment towards work. It is the most important task for the HRM to develop its work force to provide better results for the organization (Bowie and Buttle, 2004). Development of the employees is an ongoing process that includes application of proper knowledge that concludes with better results for the organization. Learning is a process of developing the personal skills by seeing others performance and acquiring knowledge about the industry and its working. The learning and development of the employees depends on the HRM skills and its training strategy. Here in this report the effective learning and development strategy of PPHE Hotel Group has been discussed to know about the techniques of training and the benefits of this process for the organization and its employees.
Learning and development in PPHE Hotel Group
PPHE Hotel group treats its human resources as the most important factor for its success. This is because it believes that the secret of its success is the quality of the people working in the organization. As per the organizations website, it is known that they believe that its work force makes it unique from any other organization in the industry. It focuses on developing strategies that favors development of its work force for success in long run (PPHE Hotel Group, 2015). It supports its employees with outstanding learning offers and development programs to acquire the knowledge about the skills of the employees and develop it as per their requirements of the industry. It believes in guiding the path of the people involved in the hospitality industry to built their career and make them capable to be fitted in the industry. PPHE believes that proper training and development strategy is the key to success for every individual employee and they focus on the training of the staffs through off job methods and on job methods. They provide lecture classes to the employees and special computer based training to the staffs for developing their skills and procedure of working.
Techniques of learning and development
In this section the modern techniques of learning and development of the work force has been discussed to know how the hospitality companies develops its work forces to enhance their performance and attract them towards their work (Tanke, 2001). There are two different methods for training the work force that are discussed in the points below:
Off Job training method
Off job training method is a process in which the staffs and employees of the organization are provided training that is outside their job schedule. Some of the off job training methods is discussed below:
The new staffs and employees of the organization are provided with lecture session by efficient and experienced experts and professionals of individual fields. The faculty members are experts of their fields and share their gained knowledge and experience in the working environment with the new employees to motivate them and train them to handle different situations that they may face in their daily working life (Buswell and Becket, 2009). The lecture session is held outside the daily working session and the employees and staffs are given opportunity to share their own experience of daily work and solve their queries and problems.
Computerized training method
The employees are trained to use computers and other technological applications that make their work easy. The back office employees are trained to use the systems that the organization follows in their daily working (O'Halloran, Jarvis and Allen-Chabot, 2006). They are given proper training session of the technologies that the company uses to develop its work forces and hospitality strategies. The employees are given proper training to use the online technologies. This helps to develop the technical skills of the employees and helps to make the work force modernize to meet the needs to globalized business strategy.
Simulation and games
The employees and staffs are trained through games and competitions among employees. They are awarded for good performance. This helps to keep the employees attracted to their working environment and helps them to perform better than as usual.
On job Training
The employees are provided with on job trainings that help to gain working experience. This helps the employees face the actual problems of the working environment and helps them to gather practical knowledge about the working environment (Lashley and Morrison, 2001). It is important for the management team to train the trainees practically because practical experience and training is the most important way of developing skills and knowledge about the work.
