They are several ways the conflict can prevent the parties who tend to start disagreeing on issues at the workplace. One of the ways of avoiding the occurring of conflict is with facilitation strategy. Facilitation is the process employed by the individual who had accepted and agreed upon by all the parties' members to intervenes and assist the parties who have the conflict to solve their problems. In addition, those individuals also help the conflicting parties in decision-making. Thus, both sides can improve the efficiency and productivity of work. As a result, to understand more about preventing conflict with the facilitation, this research paper I employed Devil's Advocacy facilitation group problem-solving case study (Sanderson, 2010).
The main function of Devil's Advocate is to help the problem-solving groups to use the testing to see if the proposed solutions to a given conflict problem can be solved. Nevertheless, the case study I used will present the discussion of the Devil's Advocacy strategies as group facilitation to help me identifies and intervention recommendation for the methods that I can be effectively used to solve the conflict. The study in this case it explores the ability of devil's advocacy technique to facilitate the group to solve natural working group facing challenging problems (Susskind, & Cruikshank, 2006).
In this case study I used devil's advocacy techniques with a group of educational professional to help the University of Denver, Colorado in United States to find the solution of the problems of central operational effectiveness. Similarly, the administration and faculty has the challenges of coming up with accurate course rotation is a timely period (Cheldelin, 2003). After, explaining the meaning of devil’s advocacy technique, I allowed the educational professionals to come up with deeper understanding of the accuracy aspects of solving the problem of central operational and course rotation. The professional education team used devil's advocacy technique due to its three main objectives that they believed could solve their challenges. The method that were used were; first to reinvigorate interest in the devil's advocacy strategies in practitioner communities and scholarly (Cheldelin, 2003). Second, is to explore the efficacy of using devil's advocacy techniques during problem solving. Finally, the third strategy was to assist the group members to analyze and to manage the critical organizational challenges.
In this case study I allowed the professional team educational to use devil's advocacy strategies to obtain views from staff of the life-planning center at the University. They used life planning center meeting. It provided the comprehensive student services and a set of academic programs (Sanderson, 2010). Additionally, it from the life-planning center the facilitation groups were able to meet the student and correct views from them. During the meet, student development division was tasked to take over the academic advising and faculty section. Similarly, the student's group a signed the learning issues and how to improve the quality of academics services in the university. On the other hand, the director of career services was assigned to the facilitation group solving team to take control over the life planning center staff. The career director conducted massive coordination to come up with degree learning plans and course offering. Similarly, he was tasked to come up strategies of hiring, training, and coordinating the new staff with the students. All the involved stockholders were given enough time by the facilitating team to interact among themselves in order to come up with the better suggestions solution of the problems they were facing (Susskind, & Cruikshank, 2006).
The stockholders who I lead by using this case study, finally they agreed to prepare and implement the degree audit in time by getting first, the organized data and feed the audited new system with accurate data. Similarly, they agreed to identify and sell model programs from the institutional peer groups on how the stable course rotations expected to affect the students. Additionally, the administration was commanded to build credibility so that the academics stockholders to embrace the life planning center, since it is the one that is responsible for suggesting cultural change in the university. That was because the life planning center as the better position of developing the best course rotations that affect the customer services and market job satisfaction. As a result, the conflicting groups were able to find the better solution to the challenges that were facing University Of Denver, Colorado in United States (Cheldelin, 2003).
Because of the challenges evidenced in the literature review and the high chances that emerge in the present case study, I will prefer like all other research seeking to have the best for the real-world groups. Therefore, my opinion is that in the future this kind of research should occur in a more natural work groups.
In conclusion, they are several ways the conflict can prevent the parties who tend to start disagreeing on issues at the workplace. One of the methods of preventing the occurring of conflict is with facilitation strategy. The facilitating it gives conflicting groups the best choices of analyzing the challenges and come up with the best alternative solution to the faced challenges. In addition, those also facilitate helps the conflicting parties in decision-making; thus both sides can improve the efficiency and productivity of work
