Literature Review On Children's Stories & Interactive Content

Children at the age of 9-12 years are interesting in the way they handle things around them. This is a stage where they start displaying what they have been learning all through their years of childhood even as they prepare to be teenagers. The children have a certain form of courage that could be irritating and funny at the same time. They display a genuine attitude that takes a form of rebellion, as they show who their greatest role model and influencer is. They definitely love attention and if doing good will not earns them the attention, they will resolve to a rebellious one. The books, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Ever After High: The Unfairest of Them All takes us through the lives of two children in their middle class of their lives (Shahar 50). The children display characters that are commonly associated with their age, the joys and frustrations they face as they try to rediscover themselves as well as adjusting to the changes in their body in their puberty stage.
It is usually normal for parents to feel worked up as they handle the children. Most of the parents are usually encountered with shocking revelations about their children especially when their changed behavior is reported in school. This is a stage where they start displaying what they have been observing and even putting it into practice. For instance, George in the diary of a wimpy kid displays an aggressive behavior of demanding attention from everywhere. He has become the center of attention in his class and uses his fame to manipulate his friend (Kinney 45). He seems to know what he wants and what is good for him and therefore going for it no matter what. His sense of humor serves as his strong point, which he uses to always attract people his way even when his behavior has not been good. This implies that he clearly knows and understands the implications of what he is doing. He therefore knows how to cover for his weakness making him a bad yet approachable boy.
Raven, in Ever After High: The Unfairest of Them All displays a girl’s side of the story in the middle class. Hers is a story of influence and the important role that parents play in shaping the character of their children. Raven has learned a lot from her mother and has just started displaying the characters and behavior she has been observing in her mother. The most interesting thing about such an age is that children know and understand the consequences of their actions, yet it does not deter them from doing it (Aries 40). For instance, the character of Raven’s mother was not the kind that anybody could admire, yet Raven adapts it anyway. She does this knowing that it is not the best legacy to follow, yet she feels comfortable considering the fact that it is being displayed with the person she loved and trusted the most. At such a stage, there us little that a person can do to convince the girl that what she is engaged in is bad, as the mother has been doing it after all (Hale 22). As a girl who is also craving for attention from every quarter, her unique character and behavior plays an important role in making her to be recognized. For the girl to change, it might take a series of experiences and maturity to make her realize that her actions are dangerous.
