A non profit organization called Ste. Louis Outreach Center is situated near Algoma University in Brampton. There are a lot of volunteers who work for this non profit organization. Of late the organization is facing a lot funding problems and monetary issues. This organization does charity but it does not take money directly from clients. However it supplies different things to people like food, clothing material, bathing materials. They also offer toys to children. They do not charge a single penny for all these materials rather they distribute these materials among the needy and low group income people. There are many volunteers at the front and back desk greeting and looking after the needs of the clients. There are many efficient volunteers who serve the organization but I would recommend the increase in the number of the volunteers who could attend more clients and help distribute things more quickly and in a more professional way. More volunteers would most likely help to speed up the work of distribution and thus help the organization grow.
One of the biggest challenges faced by the organization is arrangement for funds. In order to procure the food, bathing or other materials which are given to the needy people, fund is required. Getting people in order to raise the fund is one of the most difficult things faced by the firm. I would recommend that the organization need to keep looking for the best ways to reach people so that people could come up and donate money. First and foremost they should let people know about the mission and vision of the charitable organization. Also people should be made aware of the work that the organization does. Once people come to know about them and their existence as well as the noble work they do, people would definitely reach the organization and donate money so that they can serve the needy and helpless people.
Apart from the issue related to the fund, another problem faced by the organization is often people like to donate their clothes and other materials. They drop off the clothes and other materials when they pass by the organization. It often happens they donate at the closure of the business hours at most of the time when the main door of organization is shut. The donation goes unnoticed and often goes into garbage. To solve this problem, I would recommend that again people should be made aware of the opening and closing hours of the business. One special department should be opened which should cater to donation and people who come to donate. The opening and closing hours should be publicized so that the people should know about it and their donations do not get unnoticed. Also a big notice board or a placard should be hanged mentioning the timings of the department that is being opened for the same purpose.
Often such charitable organization organize fundraising events. A fundraising event is an event when volunteers visit sponsors and people and request them to donate money for the organization . A good volunteer can raise a good amount of fund but the real hindrance lies in getting such a good volunteer. It is really challenging to get a volunteer who would be interested to participate in a fundraising event. Volunteers are mostly retired people who are interested in charity. Such people should be made aware about the role of organization and also the work done by non profit organization. If their interest grows, they can come up and help in fundraising activities. Presently the organization has no paid employees. Few employees can be employed who can be given the job of fundraising activity. If a paid employee does the fundraising work, they can work more efficiently with more success.
Although the Outreach Center has good connection, but these contacts are of not much use when it comes to donation. If Outreach Center is of out of supply, they might reach these centers for help. These centers would help them with food but whenever they Center has faced any kind of monetary issue, these centers have never been of any kind of help. In such a situation, I would recommend that Outreach Center should have anopen discussion with these Centers. They should let them understand the work they do and the role they play in the society. If the Centers are made aware of the work of the organization, then they might be interested to donate money as well. Donation will also highlight their name and this will certainly give a lot of publicity to these organizations.
Each and every year, many events are organized by the organization. Events like a charity food challenge, charity golf tournament, Thankgiving Food Drive and other events are organized. Although these events are quite interesting but more charity events need to be organized especially in the summers. For this, the organization should reach out to the public and request them to participate.
