General Purpose: To inform.

Specific Purpose: To inform about the functioning of 3-D glasses
Central Idea: The understanding and mechanism behind 3-D glasses and the technology behind
their working is important to unveil the interesting way in which one can see through them.
I Introduction
A. The science of Stereoscopy which is to illusion of depth that can show a different image to each eye has been in use and prevalent since photography was invented. (Koltonow, 2015).
B. 3-D glasses have been invented to give a real-time experience of watching television or a movie that gives the impression of something happening right in front of one’s eyes.
C. Understanding binocular vision, which is the different perspective of images that each eye sees; that helps the brain to measure the difference in between to form an image and interpret it. (3-D Glasses, 2006).
II Body
For our vision, our eyes use binocular vision, with the help of which our eyes can see objects far off and interpret their distance. If one looks with one eye closed and another open, there is an observable difference in distance.
In 3-D viewing, the glasses perform the function of purposely feeding two different images into the eyes, each screen portraying a different image into each eye.

III Mechanism of 3-D glasses

Use of red/blue or red/green glasses that were and are commonly used in movie theaters for 3-D movies.

In this scheme, two separate images are displayed on the screen, one usually in red and the other in green or in blue.
The filters on the glass only allow one color to enter each eye, and the brain then interprets the image as it does with the binocular vision. However, the image quality is not as good because the colors cannot provide the separation for the picture hence there is poor picture quality. (Minter, 2014).

Transition

IV Polarization technology

Using polarized light is the most famous form of 3-D technology in use today.

It allows for colored viewing and is most famous for Disney World and Universal Studios because it allows for the best picture quality and entertainment experience.
Two projectors are used to make two images on the screens; each having different polarity or polarization. (Rainbow symphony, 2015).

The glasses only allow for one image into each eye because the lens contains different polarization.

Conclusion
1. 3-D glasses are used for giving a real-time experience of watching a movie.
2. The mechanism behind them is to use different colored lens for each eye.
3. Polarized glasses are the new trend because they provide better picture quality.
