Readmission is whereby the patient is taken back to the hospital because of certain complication experienced after he or she has been discharged from the hospital. For example, someone after being discharged from a surgery can be taken back to the hospital as a result of surgical wound infection that happens after he or she was discharged from the hospital. Research method/design
The method used was A hospital-level multivariable logistic regression analysis which was performed for the three condition to find out the relationship reported patient measure of their hospital stay satisfaction and the process of discharging and staff and the re-admission rate of 30days while controlling for the performance of the clinic. The study design was on patients who were 18 years and above. Analysis on the observation was carried out using clinical performance comparable data, satisfaction of the patients and hospital readmission within 30 days for; heart failure, acute myocardial infarction and Pneumonia for the period between on July2005 to 2008 June. For acute myocardial infarction a sample of 1798 hospitals were taken, for heart failure, 2561 hospitals were involved , and finally for pneumonia 2562 h0spitals were involved.

Summary of the article

The main reason the study for Relationship between patient satisfaction with inpatient care and hospital readmission within 30 days was identify the diseases with high rate of readmission. This will allow the management to understand the reason behead the problem and to find a way of minimizing the readmission of certain diseases. This will enable the management to improve on the quality of the treatment by use of more advanced technology or equipment to reduce the rate of the readmission of certain clinical diseases. The same research will also enable the government to determine the various diseases that are problematic to the society. This result will also enable the government to supervise the performance of some hospitals that have recorded a high rate of readmission. This is due to the fact that if the disease is not problematic then the clinical staffs are incompetent. This study found out that the patients overall score of satisfaction and their hospitals perception on process of discharge were significant and correlated negatively with the hospitals readmission rate of 30 days in the clinical areas. The study showed that provision of high quality service to the patients will automatically reduce the rate of the readmission in the hospital and poor quality services will contribute to high rate of readmission in the hospitals.
