Social and behavioral sciences have an impact on the various aspects that affect life in the societies. These aspects could be the economic or the health factors that affect human life in the society. The behavioral and social sciences define the elements that promote the understanding of the human behavior in relation to the events in their surroundings. These sciences will have various impacts on my current job in public health as well as my ideal job in public health.
My current job is a clinical care coordinator for population health where I work as an integral part of the primary care team to help ensure comprehensive care, freeing physicians to focus on the clinical needs of patients. In addition, I help improve patient care by increasing engagement between the primary care team and the patient while helping to empower patients and their families with the information they need to manage their health. They help streamline organizational workflows and improve inter-office communication, allowing health care providers to meet the needs of their patients better. As such, the social and behavioral sciences will enable me to understand the psychological, community, societal, and behavioral influences on the health of the population, including the disadvantaged.
My ideal job in public health is healthcare management where I can serve and make a difference both locally and globally. The social and behavioral sciences will be helpful in creating various multilevel interventions that will enable the elimination of the barriers to health across various ages from infancy to old age. These social and behavioral sciences will assist in creating a system of health care evaluation to come up with comprehensive solutions for solutions.
