Executive Summary

Education plays a crucial role not only in personal development but also in national development. In fact, given the huge role that education currently plays in the lives of mankind, it should be considered as a basic right. Every single person in the world is entitled to good and decent education. Education in developing countries in however limited to traditional teaching methods, materials and technology. This proposal explains why a project to improve on this area by introducing modern educating practices, materials and technologies to developing countries is needed. The proposal also explains how the project will be carried out, its key elements, its planned timetable, and its evaluation plan. The projected budget is also indicated. The organization to carry out the project is also briefly described in this proposal

Statement of Need

This project recognizes the fact that education should be of the highest quality and should be relevant and adapt to new methods and techniques. The project is also aware of the fact that areas of the world still lag behind when it comes to education. Education in these regions, particularly in third world countries is either very dismal and non-effective or unavailable at all. This is a great problem that will take years to solve. However, this organization understand that it can play an active part by concentrating its efforts on one aspect Education in developing countries has been observed to be limited to the traditional styles where students cannot access new forms of technology and equipment or even newer literature that is necessary for it to be effective and useful. The education sector in these counters is seriously wanting and even for those who are deemed to be ‘educated’, they later find out that the education they have received education is not very useful as it relatively old fashioned. This project seeks to collect and share new methods and techniques of educating and define new education sources that can be utilized in the developing countries to improve curriculum and overall education achievement.

Project Description

This project will take place through phases. The first location that has been chosen for the implementing for this program is the Kisangwe valley in Tanzania. First of all, volunteers will make their way to this community where they will travel to the different schools in the area assessing each of the school’s needs in regards to new education materials and technology.
This will be followed by the construction of a medium community library that will be stocked with modern education materials and technology. This will include computers with internet connection.
This will then be followed by the holding of seminars and workshops where school heads and teachers will be invited to participate. During this seminar, education experts invited from the United States will take these participants through a three-week course on modern teaching methods. In addition, the teachers will also be educated and trained on how to use new educational materials and technology.
Each of the identified schools will then be provided with modern and up to date education materials and technology. This will include fresh stocks of the latest editions of books, computers, laboratory equipment and other relevant materials. Each of the schools will be assisted to created school databases and management information systems where crucial education data can be stored and the olden paper file storage systems will be done away with.
This is only a startup project and after it has been implemented and after it becomes successful, similar projects will be initiated in other regions all across Africa, especially in countries located south of the Sahara since this is where the need for modern education means and technology is urgently needed.
The planned time for the completion of this project is 11 months. It is expected by the end of the program, students will have access to new education means and technology and that teachers will adopt these new technologies and teaching methods and brilliantly utilize them. Ina addition, the quality of education will increase as a whole.
This program will be evaluated after one year. The program aim is to boost education achievement and one the primary indicators of achievement is student performance. Therefore, after one year, the student performance in all the schools in this region will be measured against the performance in the previous year before the enactment of the program to gauge any progress.

Budget

The figures in the table above are only approximated and are expected to change once actual implementation commences.
Organization
“Education for the World’ is an organization that was formed two years ago to promote education development and achievement in third world countries. This was after the founder, Mr. John Morgan visited Africa and noticed the poor state of education and lack of up- to date materials, information, and technology and as a result came up with this organization. Membership in the organization is limited to volunteers. The organization is non-profit and all money received from well-wishers and sponsors is to be used purely for charity services or development projects such as this one. This is the first large-scale project for the organization, and if successful, similar future programs will be initiated.

Conclusion

As mentioned, this project recognizes the key role of education in both personal and nationwide development and the fact that education in developing countries in seriously limited in terms of teaching methods, materials and technology. This project seeks to collect and share new methods and techniques of educating and defining new education sources that can be utilized in the developing countries ( with a special focus to Tanzania in this case) to improve curriculum. The planned time for the completion of this project is eight months. The organization carrying out the program is named “Education for the World’.
