Element 12.0
12.1 Requirement
Forest Products Limited shall develop and Emergency Measures program to adequately prepare for and respond to potential emergencies in order to prevent injuries, prevent property damage, prevent environmental damage, and to achieve the earliest possible return to normal operations.
12.2 Responsibilities

General responsibilities shall be developed for the following positions in Forest Products Limited as may be appropriate.

President
The President will promote health and safety measures through leadership. That is; the responsibility of the President will be to ensure implementation of the program.

Production Manager

The Production Manager will promote health and safety measures in the production process by ensuring proper guidelines in the use of machinery.

Health and Safety Manager

The Health and Safety Manager will ensure the implementation of safety measures and programs in different departments in Forest Products Limited.

The Supervisor will exercise oversight over the implementation of these programs and monitor the use of the programs by employees.

Health and Safety Committee
This committee will evaluate the effectiveness of the health and safety management systems and propose new alternatives in case of failure.

Worker

The workers will have the responsibilities of putting the safety standards into practice by following the required standards while performing duties.
12.3 Specifications

The Emergency Measures Program shall make provisions for:

Legislation
Legislation will detail the rules and regulations governing the use of and implementation of the programs throughout the Forest Products Limited.

Definition of Emergency

The primal definition for emergency will be any event or occurrence that endangers the operations of the company or the life of its stakeholders.

Potential Emergencies

Potential emergencies will include elements such as breakdown of machinery, accidents by workers while in the production process among others.
Emergency Response Leader
The Emergency Measures Program will detail the roles and responsibilities of the Emergency Response Leader with reference to safety and health management.

Evacuation Plan

The Evacuation Plan will detail the procedures to be followed during emergencies in terms of the human resource of Forest Products Limited.

Response Team

The composition, roles and responsibilities of the Response team, will be detailed clearly in the Emergency Measures Program.
Response Training
Response training will encompass the types of training for the members of the response team to improve their skills in emergency response.

Response Equipment

Response equipment will encompass all the tools to be used by the response team during emergencies, including protective clothing and phones among others.

Alarms

Alarms will be set up at various points, and different alarm sounds will be used for different emergencies to allow for effectiveness in evacuation.

Chain of Command

There will be a distinct chain of command during emergencies starting with the emergency response leader to facilitate safety management during emergencies.

Outside ER Organizations

In the case of any help needed during emergencies, Forest Products Limited through the emergency response leader and the Health and Safety Committee will seek outside ER organizations.

Search and Rescue

Search and Rescue teams will be deployed by the Emergency Response Leader to rescue individual during emergencies. Technological advancements will be used during this process.

Drills

Drills will be used during the search and rescue missions. Individuals using drills will have to undergo training prior to the disasters to enhance safety.

Ontario Emergency Measures Organizations

The Emergency measures program will reflect this organization. In addition, help will be sought from this organization during emergencies.

Review

The Health and Safety Committee will conduct a review of the Emergency Measures Program.
