Why It Is Good To Study Abroad? Essay

Every year thousands of students from around leave their homes for studying abroad. Each of them has his or her own underlying motives for applying to foreign colleges and universities. Mostly, the benefits they perceive from their studies would be helpful to any student in his professional and personal life. I am going to give arguments for the concept of studying abroad as an essential experience of college life.To prove my point of view I will give some data based on US experience with incoming students.
Reason №1 is your future resume. Having an overseas education makes you stand out the crowd and show the employee that you took a chance. That you are different and always look for new ways to improve your skills and become an professional even if you have to leave the country. So many scholars and human resources practitioners worked on this questions and they have proved that the impact on a fresh graduate’s prospects in securing employment and/or attending graduate school right after earning a degree from a four-year college or university is huge. The collected surveys showed that more than ninety per cent of graduates were admitted into their first or second choice graduate or post graduate school. It also showed that same amount of people who studied abroad secured a job within the first six months after graduation. The numbers say for themselves- studying abroad raises your competitiveness in a resume contest.
Reason №2 would be the gaining new experience, which may serve your well in your future life. First, you will increase your knowledge of a foreign language, either it will be international English, or any other language. In modern world knowledge of foreign languages helps everywhere-it is highly appreciated by employers, it helps in journeys; moreover, it improves communication and intellectual skills and abilities in general. Second, an experience of adapting to the new, of navigating in new cities, of making new friends and contacts, of adjusting to local culture is a challenging but really exciting and valuable for youth experience.
Reason № 3 is getting rid of stereotypes. No matter whether you’re an exchange student or you’ve been enrolled into foreign institution for 4 years, during your study period you’ll have an opportunity to explore your host- country from inside and to make a trustworthy positive image of it. Today mass media and movies often give wrong impression about the events, races and countries. That often leads to conflicts and intolerance, which is definitely wrong. Once you study in a foreign land, in multicultural society, you will know which stereotypes are worth to believe in and which are far-fetched.
