Introduction
Common core standards represent education standards that students need to know. According to Zimba (2014), Common Core Standards were adopted to increase and foster college and career readiness and to set a global competitive standard in education. Development of these standards began in 2007 at a State Schools Officers meeting where there was a need to develop common standards at the state level (Zimba, 2014). In 2009, development of the standards began, and a public draft was made available in 2010.
