Dear Sir,

The world of films and Cinema is the largest mode of entertainment today. It takes a person away from the realities of life and is very relaxing. I belong to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; a place devoid of cinemas. My love for movies is an important factor in my decision to apply for a master’s degree in Cinema from the New York University. It is one of the best universities with experienced faculty and advanced teaching facilities.
I have successfully completed a bachelor’s course from the Umm Al Qura University, Saudi Arabia in Public Relations. Besides theoretical knowledge I have the practical experience of filming a short movie along with my friend. It was an enriching experience as I learnt the minute details of film making and the hard work that goes into it. Creativity can bring things alive; the story that I worked on was about past life experiences. My aim is to make movies about my homeland and share it at the global platform. I want to make my fellow countrymen realize the importance of media and communication in the form of films. Cinema open’s a new world for people; it broadens their thought process and readies them for acceptance of new ideas and values.
I am an avid reader and love to read about film making and biographies of legendry filmmakers. I have written a few stories and would like to movies and documentaries on them someday. The various aspects of film making like direction, editing, production and casting
require in-depth knowledge and dexterity. I am impressed by the technological advancements in Cinema. It is more real and practical now. I want to learn about the production aspect of film making. Even in production there are three stages; pre-production, on the set production and post production (in the studio). All these processes are very crucial in making of a film. Making films is team work, the cast and crew can be in hundreds; collaborating with all of them is a producer’s task.
A movie like Titanic brought viewers from the entire world at a common platform; this is the strength of films. I was amazed by the simple yet effective storyline; it touched millions across the globe. The highest award for film making, the Oscars made the entire team of the film famous. My goal is to earn this respect and honor through my films and represent my country on the global platform. Progressive films can have a positive effect on people; I would love to see my homeland accept this change to bring development and prosperity to their country. I still fondly remember the Disney characters and how impatient I used to get to watch another episode. Films cater to all age groups and societies; films bring people and countries together as human emotions do not know any boundaries. Film making requires freedom of expression; films made on politics, wars and terrorism have given a these issues a new dimension. Documentaries made on wild life interest me; they have a lot of potential in future.
