Introduction

Organizations and institutions employ employees in various capacities as a measure of enhancing productivity. Employees play a critical role in ensuring that the firm is profitable and meets the predetermined objectives as appropriate. However, the success of an organization is directly dependent on how it engages with its employees. Employee engagement refers to a positive relationship between employees and the organization. Employee engagement has also been defined as the extent to which organizations and employees relate to one another either physically, emotionally and cognitively.
Employee engagement has an immense correlation with job satisfaction because, in the performance of duty, a worker has to get fulfillment in the tasks undertaken (Macey 1). Moreover, employee engagement can also be defined as an approach established to ensure that employees are faithful by an organization to the overall values and goals of the firm. The approach also ensures that employees are effectively motivated so as to deliver on their mandate. Employee engagement does not only promote a better relationship between organizations and employees, but also ensures that workers get satisfaction from the performance of their duty (Macey 6).
An effective engagement between the organization and employees ensures that the workers can derive satisfaction effectively increasing their performance (Shuck and Wollard 1). Job satisfaction aid in safeguarding the interest of the firm while enhancing productivity. Essentially, it is important for organizations to engage with the workers as a means of ensuring the organization meets its predetermined objectives constructively. Positive and constructive engagement of employees ensures higher level of commitment. Consequently, it increases the performance rates of employees because they get involved are direct their energies towards achieving the set organizational goals (Shuck and Wollard 1). The condition an organization creates determines the extent to which employees can offer their potential and abilities.
Gallup questions have been employed by a number of organizations in correctly determining the extent of engagement of employees and firms (Gallup). The results reflect how different organizations relate to their employees as a means of ensuring productivity. The questions are more geared towards defining the satisfaction employees derive from their jobs. My co-workers would positively respond to the Gallup questions based on a number of fundamental facts. Employees are aware of their duties and set specific goals that they have to meet at an individual level (Gallup). The organization has a policy of providing the employees with all the materials they require at their workstations so that delivery of services is effective and efficient.
Employee development is an important component that organizations should occasionally consider. The organization does not just engage the workers at a personal level, but ensures that the employees have their abilities and skills enhanced. The company also has a compensations system that where employees are rewarded for their exemplary performance. As such, employees are taken care of in all dimensions because their well-being determines the extent to which an organization can enhance its productivity. Ideally, employee engagement is an approach that is aimed at defining the relationship between workers and the organization with the aim of promoting performance. Positive engagement of workers results in increased productivity of the organization

Conclusion

Employee engagement refers to the relationship between firms and employees. The relationship is three-dimensional and includes the cognitive, emotional and the physical aspects of individual well-being. Positive engagement of employees enhances their performance hence increased productivity. The Gallup questions are defines the extent to which employees and organizations engage.
