A decision in business is regarded an “ethics” decision when it represents and stands for the acceptable behavior from the company, its employees and the targeted clients. Companies are expected to come up with an ethical framework that will guide them in making proper “ethics” decisions. Recently, the number of corporations and businesses linked to ethical wrongdoing is increasing at an alarming rate. Recent scandals in social networking sites like Facebook, Google, Snapchat and Uber are best examples of wrongdoing in ethics.
Also, Facebook failed to uphold the expected ethical standards when it interfered with individual rights in the unwitting guinea pigs saga. The site was conducting a psychological study where it manipulated the news feed of more than 0.5 million users and forced them to alter their positive and negative updates in the study.
In addition, Uber supported unethical corporate behavior in a manner that left us dumbfounded. The corporation made attempts to disembowel its closest rival, Lyft, by belligerently poaching drivers, damaging its source of capital, and making orders to 5000 fake rides that they cancelled later. Astonishingly, the Uber Executive tried to make a follow-up to the journalists who he referred to as people responsible for tainting the name of Uber. The corporation was not making sound ethical decisions.
