In many states, there is an inclination of individuals to confuse communication colleges and universities. Therefore, there is a need to differentiate between communication colleges and universities. Communication colleges in many instances tend to be more directly careers oriented than the way universities offer their education. A university, on the other hand, can be considered as a group of schools that are situated in the same place that offer studies after secondary school. In the university, at least one of the various schools is a college. The key differences are in the time spent, education and the cost of tuition.
There are at least three major variances between a communication college and a university. One of the main difference is the time that is spent while studying in the institutions. A good example is that in the university, the students tend to take a longer time while studying four or more years- while in the communication colleges, the program that the students undertake can range from nine months to two years. If an individual needs to come out of secondary school and enter the country’s workforce as quickly as possible, then the communication colleges are the best place to study. The second variance is the cost. The cost of tuition in communication colleges is cheaper than the cost of tuition in universities. In average terms, the cost of communication colleges annually ranges from $2000 to $2500 while in the universities the cost annually ranges from $5000 to $5500. The differences in cost arise due to the short nature of time spent on the communication colleges programs, the cost of tuition is lower as the time spent is low. In universities, students are paying for their tuition fees for a period that is longer and is almost twice the period of the colleges.
Education is the other major difference between the communication colleges and the universities. When put in simple terms, the type of education that is offered in the universities tend to be of higher educational quality than the communication colleges. Students graduate with degrees in universities while, in the communication colleges, students graduate with diplomas. Communication colleges tend to provide education that focuses more on the applied knowledge that is hands on. On the other hand, the education that is provided by the universities tends to center on teaching students to thinking critically about the world around them. Education program value is also diverse.
When considering the college to join, there are numerous factors that students should consider. One of the core factors is the attainability of the majors that one wants to study. If the students have selected a particular career path, then they have to choose a college that provides that major. Some colleges also specialize in certain fields, and this should be able to make it easier for the student to choose. Residency is another factor that one has to consider when choosing a college. While some of the colleges allow for students to stay on their premises, some colleges do not. The quality of education provided in colleges should also be considered.
In conclusion, the cost of education, the quality of education and the place of residence are just some of the details that one should consider when choosing a college. the cost of the college, the diversity that is beyond the ethnic and racial diversity, and the availability of housing can be used to determine the best college one chooses. One also has to consider the impact that the environment has on the learning of the individual. Some environments are not conducive to proper learning such as colleges in industrial sites.
