Empathy is the capability of an individual to recognize, appreciate and understand other people. It also entails being open about personal feelings. Lack of empathic responsiveness was considered to be a characteristic possessed by cyberbullies.
The study is under cyberpsychology. Cyberpsychology is the study of human behavior and mind and their relationship with communication and interaction using machines.It includes the psychological changes influenced by technology and expands in the areas of virtual reality from the internet as well as computer culture. Moreover, syberpsychology includes the learning of the psychological consequences of virtual reality, artificial intelligence and cyborgs. Researches commonly focus on the psychological effects of the internet and cyberspace. Statistics regarding these studies are internet-based.
The research in the article used meta-analyses to confirm the relationship between empathy and aggressiveness. The result showed that these two behaviors are negatively related with each other. 2.070 participating students of Luxembourg secondary schools were employed to complete an online survey. The survey includes cyberbullying questions as well as empathy scale. Using analyses of variances, results showed that less empathic responses were demonstrated by cyberbullies. They were also the ones who do not desire to be the victims themselves. Empathy’s relationship with aggressiveness was the extension of the study. Empathy was tested through investigating items that are exclusively in the context of virtual reality. The study believes that the anonymity of cyberbullies must be taken into account. Cyberbullies are different from traditional bullies. As a recommendation, researches should include specific and general approach regarding empathy and aggressiveness measurement.
The present conclusion proposes training of empathy behaviors can be a necessary instrument to reduce cyberbullying incidences. The outcomes of the study mean a lot to people. The findings can assist parents, students and teacher into guiding teenagers to have the skill of empathy. The study also discusses the problem of cyberbullying and the cyberbullies. Schools must give mixture of empathy training and social and emotional intelligence. The social and emotional is the capability of an individual to recognize, evaluate, and manage his or her emotions and be capable to successfully interrelate, uphold and construct interaction with other individuals.
Social literacy entails teaching younger generation to communicate and use their social skills. It can train a person on showing an effective way to intercede their communications with friends, colleagues and relatives. Issues of social relationship include accepting anger and fear to deal with them successfully with altercation.
The study was very significant in many ways. The study is an affirmation of human technological abilities. The use of emosocial abilities stops bullies because young people were able to discover the way to convey themselves properly. The study teaches friendship and interact management by not employing the internet. An emotional and social intelligent individual helps with communication in their homes. A person can train his or her relative to interpret the actions of each other. They can also ask directly the needs of everyone to create and maintain harmony. The transition of teenager years to adulthood is very important in building a person’s identity. Having the ability to empathize, understand and express oneself is a big help in growth, confidence and personality.
Most importantly, the article is a wake-up call to start taking actions about cyberbullying. Social illiteracy has a big impact in future generation, and thus, we should have a counteraction to the undesirable effects of cyberbullying and start building optimistic actions.
