"Browne Discussion Questions 1 and 5"

“Why battered women do not leave” is a wrong question to ask for many reasons. The main reason is that leaving not means the stop of violence. In most cases, leaving only worsens the situation because adds more reasons for the abuser to become angry. Women, who leave, usually face with persecutions and threats. They can feel danger for lives of themselves and their children. Moreover, women face with difficult situations such as a lack of money, shelter and impossibility to provide their lies and lives of their children.
The difference between women, who killed their abusive partners and those, who did not lies in the behavior of men. Women’s desire to kill usually is only a reaction of men’s behavior. According to the statistics, women kill those men, who: used drugs and alcohol, abused children, their outbursts of anger occurred more often and were crueler. Moreover, they injured women more seriously, usually rapped or otherwise sexually assaulted their partners and threated to kill them. So, women felt more hopelessly and oppressed and it seemed nothing to do for them then to kill their abusers.

"West Discussion Question. 1"

All women who are bettered, no matter if they are heterosexual or lesbians, suffer from their partners. This is the main common feature of them. In addition, there are some differences. First, lesbians’ and gays’ relations are illegitimate. It means that in case of violence the police cannot help victims because there is no legislation on this term. Moreover, homosexual violence has on specific reason: sexual discrimination. If a lesbian or gay suffers such a discrimination at work, he or she more likely will vent his anger on the partner.
