‘Do not blame the eater’ is a book that was written by David Zinczenko. The author begins by giving a general description of his early life and settings. From his personal life, the author grew up in within a typical mid 1980s latchkey kid. His parents had separated. His father was working so hard to provide for the family while his mother used to work long hours to cater for the family bills. From the novel, the author introduces us to two different settings. First he views his old 1980s background as a kid then, drives us through his personal life on how he managed to go to college and join the navy reserves. The author blames the first food hotels such as McDonald to be among the hotels that provide food with a lot of fats and cholesterol leading to an increased rate of obesity and diabetes in young children. (Zinczenko, 241)
During his time the only place, where the author could get a proper meal, was either at McDonald, Taco Bell, Kentucky, and fried chicken or at the pizza hat. From the novel, the author focuses on a new headline where a kid was suing the McDonald hotel for making food that made them grow fat. The author view, that people may underestimate the suing from the kid and view it as that of a middle-class man who is suing the Police for making him get a speed ticket. He wishes this claimed on the newspaper could be for monologue.
The support that the author uses for his argument on fast food is that most of the fast food selling hotels don’t provide clear details on the compositions that make up the food. The author adds that there are no descriptions of the amount of calories or charts describing the composition of the fast food services as the way tobacco do. The advertisement on the fast food does not give people warning. The prepared food is not under the drug administration laws and the few foods which provide calories information make it so hard to be understood. The author’s argument is very much effective. This is because lack of information on the fast food has made the teenager, who don’t know how to manage two meals a day, to acquire lifetime obesity and increased rates of diabetes. (Zinczenko, 241)
The perspective that the author has from the content is that the food industry company is the leading cause of the increased obesity in children, diabetes, cancers disease and other sicknesses. The ironical part from the perspective of the author is that the government is aware of the major cause of these entire problems. Diabetes alone has led to the spent of more than $100 billion of the health care money. The author’s idea of the fast foods companies is not biases. He gives a note of warning to the people opposing his idea or anybody who will make fun of the teenager children who launched a lawsuit against the fast food industry because they may be the next plaintiff. . He warns the MacDonald company that it is only a time factor before the government starts to fine a 1bilion tax like the tobacco industry. (Zinczenko)
My perspective is instead of the government spending a lot of money in the health care system, why don’t they tackle the cause of the problem. The food companies should ensure that they proved a well credited information’s on the composition of the fast food they sell to customers. I would observe the analysis the same way the author sees the content of the fat food. This is because the fast food companies advertise and market to children products which have been proven to contain health hazard and without label of warning describing the negative impact to human health. The food companies should provide nutrition information in the label of their products. This will ensure that the customers are, and the country will have reduced rate of obesity children, diabetes and other r diseases that are associated with the fast food services.
